Housing Finance Bank has installed a water harvesting and preservation system at Maganjo UMEA Primary School in Kawempe, aiming to improve access to clean water and strengthen community resilience under its Water Supply and Sanitation Solution (WASS) programme.
The system, with a capacity of 10,000 litres, will serve more than 1,400 pupils and teachers, addressing longstanding water scarcity that previously cost the school over Shs15.3 million annually to meet its needs.
The initiative promotes hygiene, student health, and consistent school attendance, while aligning with Sustainable Development Goals on good health, quality education, clean water, and sustainable communities.
Speaking on behalf of the bank, Ronald Baguma, Business Distribution Manager, said, “Through projects like this, we continue to advance the Sustainable Development Goals… Together, we are building a brighter, healthier, and more hopeful future for our children.”
Head teacher Hajjat Afua Boogere welcomed the intervention, highlighting the importance of water for daily school routines, including performing wudhu and preparing meals.
Housing Finance Bank says it will continue supporting initiatives that promote sustainable solutions, improve education, and uplift communities through strong partnerships beyond traditional banking services.
